God is eternal.  He knows the end from the beginning.  We are mortal, and although we possess the benefit of hindsight, we often fail to detect the unseen pattern in history that suggests its intelligent design.

God's foresight is evidence of His existence and divinity.  He communicated this knowledge through the holy prophets.

The preservation of the Jews as a prophetic people is further testimony to the handiwork of God. Their exile from the Promised Land, years of chastisement, and eventual return to their historic homeland were foretold in detail in the Hebrew Scriptures.

Home and synagogue are centered in these inspired writings, which serve as a common point of reference for the Jews.  Yet the Jews are not alone in their sufferings; the world cannot rest until the Jews fulfill their destiny. They must return to the Promised Land and resurrect the Temple, its service, and its meaning.

Messianic Israel is the destiny of Judaism.  When Israel achieves its intended purpose, it will be a servant nation to the world.  Sometimes the formidable mental energies of the Jews have been mis-directed, resulting in great harm to the world.  One example is the part played by a small band of Jews in the October 1917 Russian Revolution.  Consider this statement published in 1919:

Bolshevism is not Russian -- it is essentially non-national; its leaders belong almost entirely to the race that lost its country and its nationhood long ago. In April, 1918, the Bolshevist "Government," including 384 "Peoples' Commissaries," was represented by 2 negroes, 13 Russians, 15 Chinamen, 22 Armenians and Georgians, and more than 300 Jews. Of the last 264 had come to Russia from the United States during the "Revolution."

Let us awaken to the full significance of this phenomenon. Let us, before all, make reparation to the race that gave us our religion, the very basis of our civilization; let us restore the Jews to their country and to their nationhood. It will be but an act of sacred Justice; it will also be a means of social salvation. The liberation of Palestine from Turkish thralldom and its promised return to the Chosen Race have been rightly heralded and acclaimed by Jew and Gentile alike.

We have fought in order to assure the unfettered progress of nations towards universal brotherhood by placing national life on the sure foundations of peace, ordered liberty and social justice. At a great price we have won this boon for ourselves and for other nations, cementing with our blood a comradeship that eschews class privileges and distinctions. Is this great step in human progress -- with all its inevitable sacrifices -- to be imperiled by a mere handful of madmen, seeking to destroy the very existence of nations?*

The writer cites three foundations of universal brotherhood that serve as the basis of collective life, including that to be found in the national restoration of the Jews.  They are:

1.  Peace;

2.  Ordered liberty; and,

3.  Social justice.

Bolshevism satisfied none of these conditions.

From our author we may further surmise that Bolshevism, better known to us as Soviet Communism, was an imported ideology.  It did not originate in Russia.  A well-financed band of 300 ideologues, mostly foreign Jews, brought down the vast empire of a Czar, derailed the democracy of the March 1917 Russian Revolution in its infancy, and terrorized the unsuspecting Russian masses for decades.  This cell of 300 radicals, mostly Jews, exported their ideology to China and in a similar manner helped the Chinese succeed in uprooting China's imperial government and defeating its own infant democracy.

How many tens of millions of people were destroyed body and soul by Communism?  Yet it started with 300 ideologues, mostly Jews.

Russia was a victim of their ideology; China is still a victim.  They in turn became victimizers.

Bolshevism was not unlike the extreme Islamism of Al-Qaeda in respect to these factors:

a)  A small band became inflamed by a radical ideology of world domination;

b)  They were well-funded;

c)  The militants gained a base in a host country;

d)  They used violence when conversion or compliance was unattained.

The world could not afford the consequences of Communism; it cannot tolerate the totalitarian aims of Al-Qaeda and kindred groups.  The Cold War is testimony to the cost of neglecting the opportunity of acting swiftly to route to the full those who would deprive the world of the inheritance of peace, ordered liberty, and social justice.

SECULAR ISRAEL NOT MESSIANIC ISRAEL

The inspired Hebrew Scriptures warn that the same misdirected spirit that founded Bolshevism would possess those reclaiming the Promised Land prior to its redemption under the messiah.  This fact accounts for the abuses chronicled by the Israeli/Palestinian Conflict.

The prophets Ezekiel and Jeremiah state the Jews would begin the process of returning to their ancestral homeland in a spiritual condition of unbelief, which is described as a stony heart. God later turns the stony heart into a heart of flesh. See Jeremiah 32:37-41; 33:7-9; Ezekiel 11:16-20; 20:42-44; 36:24-28; 37:12-14; 39:25-29.

The messiah, who arises within the Jewish Dispersion; i.e., outside political Israel (Revelation 13:1); comes after the Restoration begins. He lead the Jews into full possession of messianic Israel, the covenant area covering the territory between the Nile and Euphrates rivers. Through "all power and signs and wonders" (2 Thessalonians 2:9), this messiah revives the ancient faith of Israel. He leads Israel into nationwide repentance and the full realization of its biblical national and spiritual glory.
